Ingredients

Apple Filling:

  • 8 cups peeled and diced apples (78 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup thick caramel sauce
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Oat Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Combine all apple filling ingredients in the baking dish and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Mix oat topping ingredients in a bowl, working in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some larger pieces.
  4. Squeeze topping into clumps and sprinkle over apple mixture.
  5. Bake 45-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  6. Cool 15-20 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use firm apple varieties that hold their shape when baked. Serve with vanilla ice cream and extra caramel sauce for the ultimate indulgence!
