A warm, comforting dessert featuring tender spiced apples topped with golden oat crumble and rich caramel throughout.
Ingredients
Apple Filling:
- 8 cups peeled and diced apples (7–8 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup thick caramel sauce
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Oat Topping:
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Combine all apple filling ingredients in the baking dish and toss to coat evenly.
- Mix oat topping ingredients in a bowl, working in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some larger pieces.
- Squeeze topping into clumps and sprinkle over apple mixture.
- Bake 45-50 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
- Cool 15-20 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use firm apple varieties that hold their shape when baked. Serve with vanilla ice cream and extra caramel sauce for the ultimate indulgence!
