Description

A melt-in-your-mouth tender Slow Cooker Beef Brisket recipe featuring caramelized onions and mushrooms in a savory broth.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced thick
  • 2 cups low sodium beef or chicken broth
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 4 lb beef brisket
  • 2.5 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced thick
  • 2 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Generously season the brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in a hot skillet with olive oil for 4-5 minutes per side until browned; transfer to the slow cooker fat side up.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté onions until caramelized, then place them over the brisket; sauté mushrooms until soft and add them to the slow cooker along with the chopped garlic.
  3. Mix the broth and Worcestershire sauce together and pour the liquid over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours until the meat is tender and pulls apart easily; rest for 15 minutes, remove excess fat, shred the meat, and let it soak in the juices before serving.

Notes

For a leaner option, skim the fat from the liquid before shredding the meat back into the sauce.
