Description
A melt-in-your-mouth tender Slow Cooker Beef Brisket recipe featuring caramelized onions and mushrooms in a savory broth.
Ingredients
- 2 medium yellow onions, sliced thick
- 2 cups low sodium beef or chicken broth
- 3 Tbsp olive oil, divided
- 4 lb beef brisket
- 2.5 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 5 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 lb mushrooms, sliced thick
- 2 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Generously season the brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in a hot skillet with olive oil for 4-5 minutes per side until browned; transfer to the slow cooker fat side up.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions until caramelized, then place them over the brisket; sauté mushrooms until soft and add them to the slow cooker along with the chopped garlic.
- Mix the broth and Worcestershire sauce together and pour the liquid over the ingredients in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours until the meat is tender and pulls apart easily; rest for 15 minutes, remove excess fat, shred the meat, and let it soak in the juices before serving.
Notes
For a leaner option, skim the fat from the liquid before shredding the meat back into the sauce.
