Description

A classic, warm strawberry cobbler with juicy berries and a tender golden crust. The perfect easy dessert for summer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries evenly. Place them in a 9×13 inch baking dish and toss with 1/2 cup of sugar and the cornstarch. Let sit briefly.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk and melted butter just until combined; do not overmix.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the strawberry mixture. Pour the boiling water carefully over the top of the entire dish.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the fruit filling is bubbling. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken.

Notes

If using frozen strawberries, do not thaw them first, but you may need to add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.
