Description
A warm, gooey skillet dessert featuring melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows, perfect for indoor camping vibes.
Ingredients
- 1 bag (10 ounces) large marshmallows, halved (use about 16)
- 3 cups (500g) semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
- Graham crackers, broken for dipping
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 450 degrees F so it is hot and ready for the skillet. Grab a 9-inch oven-safe skillet, preferably cast iron for even heat retention, and place it over medium-high heat on your stovetop. Add the salted butter to the pan and allow it to melt completely, tilting the pan slightly to coat the bottom surface.
- Once the butter is melted and bubbling slightly, pour in the chocolate chips and sprinkle the kosher salt over them. Stir the mixture continuously with a spatula until the chocolate is smooth, glossy, and fully melted, which should only take a couple of minutes. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate, as you want a silky consistency before adding the topping.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and immediately arrange the halved marshmallows over the melted chocolate in a single, crowded layer, cut-side down if possible. Carefully transfer the skillet to your preheated oven and bake for 5 to 7 minutes. Watch closely through the oven window and remove the skillet as soon as the marshmallows are puffed up and toasted to a beautiful golden brown color.
Notes
Serve immediately while warm. You can substitute milk chocolate chips for a sweeter dip.
