Description

These homemade brownies are thick, chewy, and packed with rich chocolate flavor. They feature a crackly top and moist center that mimics the best box mixes.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup canola or extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and prepare an 8×8 baking dish with cooking spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, water, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold until just combined and no flour streaks remain.
  5. Spread the thick batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 42 to 48 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool completely in the pan before slicing.

Notes

For cleaner slices, chill the brownies in the fridge after they have cooled to room temperature.
