Crispy, golden bite-sized funnel cakes topped with fresh homemade strawberry sauce – all the carnival magic in your own kitchen!
Ingredients
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Canola oil for frying
- Confectioners’ sugar for dusting
- 2 pints strawberries, hulled and halved
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for sauce)
- 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Make strawberry sauce: Simmer strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice for 10 minutes until berries break down. Blend until smooth and cool.
- Mix dry ingredients in one bowl, wet ingredients in another. Combine to form lumpy batter.
- Heat oil to 370°F in Dutch oven.
- Scoop batter into hot oil, fry 2½ minutes, flipping once.
- Drain on wire rack, dust with confectioners’ sugar, and serve with strawberry sauce.
