Slow Cooker Apple Butter – Rich, spiced apple butter made easily in your slow cooker with no peeling required.
Ingredients
- 6 pounds mixed sweet apples, cored and chopped
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Place chopped apples in slow cooker
- Mix sugars and spices, then toss with apples
- Cook covered on low for 8 hours
- Puree with immersion blender until smooth
- Stir in vanilla, cook uncovered 1-2 hours until thick
- Cool and store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks
Notes
Choose softer apple varieties like Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp for best results. Apple butter will continue thickening as it cools.
