A tender, flaky pastry filled with spiced apples and rich cream cheese – perfect for weekend brunches or special occasion breakfasts.
Ingredients
- 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 2 medium Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook diced apples with butter, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and cinnamon for 12-15 minutes until tender.
- Mix cream cheese, remaining granulated sugar, flour, and vanilla until smooth.
- Unroll dough into rectangles, press seams, and cut diagonal strips along sides.
- Spread cream cheese mixture down center, top with cooked apples.
- Braid dough strips over filling alternately.
- Bake 22-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla for glaze.
- Cool 15 minutes, drizzle with glaze, and slice to serve.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for smooth mixing. Danish can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
